Ron skinner- OFFICIAL fundraiser for Global Nation
The surprise on arrival at Harare International Airport was amazing, to meet the PATRON of Global Nation { Miss Zimbabwe 2011/12 } Malaika Mushandu. On arrival there were African dancers and a band that made us feel very welcome. The country is very beautiful but you can see a big difference between the capital and the outskirts, hear the poverty was very obvious.
At the Zinyengere School in Epworth it was evident they needed all the help we could provide for them. In some of the class rooms they where sitting on concrete floors and some of the local children could not afford the fees to go to school, there is no electricity the only supply was via a small generator which they could only start up on some occasions to run the photo copying machine to print paper work for the children. The playing field was a dusty piece of land and the toilets, well the least said the better.
You can see we have a lot of work to do to raise money so we can help improve there life’s in some way and any support in your time or ideas’s would be greatly appreciated. Come and get involved help us to make a difference to there life’s and make yours more exciting
EMILY WOODALL – MY AFRICAN EXPERIENCE
When we arrived at Harare airport in Zimbabwe, we were greeted by the current reigning Miss Zimbabwe (Malaika Mushandu) and a traditional African band with dancers that let us join in!
During our stay we visited Zinyengere Primary in the town of Epworth just outside of the capital, Harare. Unfortunately, the children have to pay to go to school, so many living in this area are unable to attend at all, resulting in not getting any education. We met with the headteacher, Kingsley, who gave us a tour of his school. As we looked around, we could see that help was needed. For example, in some of the classrooms, the children were sat on the cold, uncomfortable concrete floor due to lack of money for school furniture such as desks and chairs. Also, the school has no security fencing around the outside, so anyone can walk through the school grounds which is unsafe for the students. The children were very welcoming and wanted to say hello to us all.
I had a wonderful experience. I have seen and learned many new things in a world away from home. I would recommend such an amazing experience to anyone who wants a unique adventure and to truly make a difference to peoples lives.

My experience of Zimbabwe with all its natural beauty in Oct 2011 . I have been to Zimbabwe three times now and every time i have learnt something new. The school that we are focusing on helping is called Zinyengere . I have meet the head, the teacher and off course the beautiful children. I got to experience different classes and spend time with the children. Many of the children are sent back home if they do not have there school fees which is heart breaking because these children want to learn. There are not enough class rooms in the school so some study outside . Many of the children have to sit on the floor and do not have books to write on.I found the children were loving and more friendly towards me. I support Global Nation because not only is it bringing people together but it is also helping those who really need it. Zimbabwe is a place like no other.
